Professor Zhang Weiwei was invited by Chunqiu Institute on July 21, 2013 to host a working dinner for Romano Prodi, former president of the European Commission and former Prime Minister of Italy. Over ten Shanghai-based scholars including Professor Mei Junjie attended the dinner, during which they exchanged in-depth views with Mr. Prodi on Sino-European relations, the rise of China and other topics. At the end of the dinner, Mr. Prodi wrote the following message for the SASS Institute of China Studies: “Our conversation was full of intense exchange of views -- Sometimes different but always full of friendship and cooperation”.
