Robert Kapp is president of Robert A. Kapp & Associates, Port Townsend, Washington State, USA. He is Senior Advisor to the China Program of The Carter Center (Atlanta, Georgia) and Special Advisor to the US-China Education Trust (Washington, D.C.) President of The US-China Business Council, the leading organization of U.S. companies engaged with China, from 1994 through 2004, he was active in commercial relations between the U.S. and China, and took part in U.S. policy debates on economic relations with China. He holds a doctorate in modern Chinese history from Yale University, and has visited China frequently since January, 1977.
